A concert where you don’t sit or stand up, but lie down? Yes, it exists! Choose a mat and tuck your pillow under your head. Get ready to clear your head for an hour and dream away during a lie down concert by pianist Mattias Devriendt.
Expect a unique uninterrupted musical story in which tranquility, tension, musical themes and dynamics carry you along for an hour. A moment of peace, stillness and connection in a world full of meetings, whatsapp messages and instareeltiktokstory. Each concert is a new creation and a perfect pick for a first date, a friends night out or if you’re feeling culturally curious.
How it works
During this exclusive and intimate concert, you can pick one of 50 mats and cushions and settle around the grand piano. The concert lasts about 1 hour continuously. There are no breaks. After the concert, you can take your time to go back into town.
Sint Baafshuis?
Sint Baafshuis is located in the very center of Ghent next to St. Baafs Cathedral with Van Eycks work the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. The building has a long and rich history dating back to the 16th century and served as a seminary, school and boarding school. Today it has been fully restored. The concert will take place around the grand piano in the beautiful intimate concert space on the top floor.
Mattias Devriendt?
Mattias Devriendt learned to play the piano at the age of 9. He lives in Ghent. Since 2022, he plays lying down piano concerts. No Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert, but his own work. His main influences are Radiohead, Philip Glass, Nicolas Jaar, Ludovico Einaudi, The Album Leaf, Nils Frahm and Jóhann Jóhannsson.
